One person died and another was seriously injured in a collision in Howard County over the weekend, according to police.
About 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a Toyota Camry traveling north on U.S. 1 in Jessup attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot of the Cedar Motel, Howard County Police said yesterday. The Camry was struck on the passenger’s side by a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe.
The right-front passenger in the Camry, a woman whose name police did not release, was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Camry, Mario Perez, 39, of the 8800 block of Tamar Drive in Columbia, was in serious condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Police said alcohol use was a factor in the crash.
