Long-time Dothan resident and historian Wendell Stepp died Monday morning.
Stepp moved to Dothan more than 50 years ago with Akwell Industries and became an integral part of the community, especially in terms of preserving the area’s history.
He chaired the Dothan Historical Preservation Commission and was active with the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an outspoken advocate for both causes, and for years worked to revitalize the downtown area and preserve Dothan’s last remaining historic buildings.
He and his daughter, Pamela Ann Stepp, co-authored “Dothan A Pictorial History” in 1984.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Robert Byrd of Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home & Crematory.
