Suspect in Shooting That Killed DeKalb Mother to Appear in Court

Twenty-nine-year-old Keshonna Loynes was shot in the back by a stray bullet while inside her home. Eric Lamore Ferrell is charged with Loynes’ murder.

ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) – The man arrested in the shooting death of a mother of three Monday night was expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday.  Twenty-nine-year-old Keshonna Loynes was shot in the back by a stray bullet while inside her home.

Eric Lamore Ferrell is charged with the Loynes’ murder.

Investigators said Ferrell got in a shootout with another man at a DeKalb County apartment complex and a stray bullet pierced Loynes’ window.

Loynes was inside the apartment doing her daughter’s hair when the bullet struck her.  The pregnant mother of three died right in front of her children.

“The one that was shot returned fire, but I guess he had bad aim because his bullet went into the house, through the window and into her back while she was combing her child’s hair,” said Loynes’ grandmother, Davina Sanders.

Sanders said Loynes was the perfect mother and always wanted something better for her children.

Sanders said while she grieved for granddaughter, she was thankful none of the children were hurt.

“The bullet didn’t come out the other side.  Suppose it did, it would have [gone] into Sharhara’s head,” Sanders said.

Ferrell has been charged with one count of murder.  Although Loynes’ family said she was pregnant, authorities said it was unlikely Ferrell will be charged with fetal homicide because it was too early in the pregnancy.

Police said they were still looking for the other man involved in the shooting.
