One man is in custody this afternoon after a Birmingham man was stabbed to death inside a night club, police said.
Kevin Felder, 21, was stabbed several times at Club Zen on Morris Avenue about 2:55 a.m. Sunday, police said. He died at 3:10 a.m., according to a UAB Hospital spokeswoman.
According to a statement from Birmingham police, officers received information that Felder was involved in a fight with a man who left the scene after the altercation. The man later turned himself in to police at the South Precinct and is in custody awaiting charges, according to the press release.
This case is under investigation, police said.
Police encourage anyone with information to contact the homicide unit at 254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 254-7777.
Felder graduated from Clay-Chalkville High School and played on the football team until an injury sidelined him, said Pamela Sims, his aunt. He attended Jacksonville State University and was working for a delivery company, she said.
Felder would help coach little kids, Sims said. “He was very ameniable,” Sims said. “He was never a person who would start stuff. He was soft spoken. … He would defend himself but you would never see him starting an altercation.”
“I just feel like he lost his life over nothing,” Sims said.
