Cristian Fernandez’s mother pleads guilty in death of 2-year-old son
Biannela Susana, the mother of 13-year-old Jacksonville murder defendant Cristian Fernandez, pleaded guilty this morning to aggravated manslaughter in death of her 2-year-old son.
The guilty plea came during a pre-trial hearing that was suddenly changed from next week to this morning before Circuit Judge James H. Daniel, with prosecutor Mark Caliel and defense attorney Shawn Arnold present. Arnold asked for the change in dates after conferring with Caliel.
The hearing was originally set for April 4. A sentencing date has not been set. She faces a minimum of 13 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.
