NEW BRITAIN—
James D’Aquila, who is accused of killing his mother by kicking her repeatedly in the head, is not competent to stand trial, a judge said in Superior Court in New Britain on Thursday morning.
D’Aquila, 34, suffers from schizophrenia, an attorney has said.
Southington Judge Hillary Strackbein ordered D’Aquila to spend 60 days at Whiting Forensic Institute in Middletown, where the staff will attempt to restore him to competency.
