DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -
The Volusia County Beach Patrol says a beachgoer has found the body a 19-year-old man who went missing in rough surf on Memorial Day.Authorities say the man entered the water with another man after lifeguards went off-duty about 5:30 p.m. Monday. They were hit by a large wave and the 19-year-old didn’t resurface. His body was found Tuesday morning, several blocks north of the spot he entered the water..

The fact that this incident happened when lifeguards went off duty actually brings up the issue as to whether beach patrol working hours should be increased. Maybe this young man’s life would have been saved if there were lifeguards on site to search for him right after he had disappeared.
I agree maybe the hours should be longer…maybe his life could of be saved. The only thing that puzzles me is were there signs posted saying that no life guards were on duty and did he enter into the waters knowing this… I also think that at the age of 19 you are old enough to make some what of a wise decision, he should of known better, if he were 13 I could understand. My heart goes out to the family for their loss.
