SAN BERNARDINO – The month of June began with a shooting that ended in homicide in a San Bernardino neighborhood, early Friday morning.
Police received a report of shots fired in the 300 block of East Base Line at 2 a.m., officers said.
Police arrived and found the 19-year-old Colton resident Donald Ray McCall Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“He was trying to find himself,” the victim’s sister Sabrina McCall said. “He wanted more for his son’s life than what he had.”
McCall said her brother was affiliated with a gang but didn’t say which one he belonged to.
“I had to drag his body out to the street to get the ambulance to help him,” said friend of the deceased, Glenn Harris. “They won’t come in here to help us because they’re scared.”
