TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. – For unknown reasons, a teenager’s van drifted off the road Thursday, eventually leading to a crash that killed both him and his front seat passenger, according to the Louisiana State Police.
Around 7 p.m., Independence natives, Brandon Sance, 19, and Kassie Toups, 22, were driving on I-55, two miles south of the LA 442 exit.
The 1991 Dodge Caravan drifted off the road and entered the center grass median, police said.
It traveled for about 329 feet before impacting a guard rail directly underneath the LA 1064 overpass.
