PASCAGOULA, MISS. — Mississippi Phosphates says it is restarting production at its Pascagoula fertilizer factory.The company shut down June 1 after an explosion killed Jeremy Moore of Moss Point and sent two other workers to the hospital. Another explosion in the same part of the plant killed a worker May 21.The company said Friday that an outside engineering firm that it had hired to investigate the deaths, Engineering Systems of Aurora, Ill., had inspected the plant before the restart. Mississippi Phosphates also said that it was cooperating with investigators from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
