The Augusta Chronicle reported Christopher William Bowen, 55, died in the crash less than a mile from the airport in Wrens around 4 p.m. Friday.
Bowen was attending the Wrens-O.B. Brown Memorial Fly-In. The event is hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Chapter 172. It attracts small planes, ultralights, paraplanes and other aircraft.
