Two people who police believe had just left an alcohol abuse class were killed early Tuesday morning when their car crashed and burned on Sycamore Road in Gwinnett County.

The dark gray BMW 740i was heading north in the 5300 block of Sycamore in unincorporated Sugar Hill about 12:30 a.m. when the car’s driver lost control, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The vehicle crossed the double yellow lane, ran off the west side of the road, struck a tree and became fully engulfed in flames, police said.

The Gwinnett County Fire Department responded. After the fire was put out, firefighters and police found the driver and a passenger dead in the car.
