BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)– CBS 42 did confirm that a child struck by a vehicle last night has died. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office told us that Deonte Mixon, 4-years-old, was ran over in the Gate City community in Birmingham on the 6600 block of Joppa Court. He was transported to the Children’s Hospital emergency room where he died around 10:05pm. The accident happened just two blocks away from where a shooting happen around 9pm. Sgt. Johnny Williams tells us that two adult females were grazed by gunfire and a 2-year-old was shot in the leg. He also tells us that their injuries are not life threatening. No arrests have been made for either incident.
