The man, identified as Bert Langley, was killed around 1 a.m. at the Atlanta Civic Center station, according to MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris. Langley was struck in the wayside, or immediate area around the track.
“We don’t know why he was there,” Harris told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said the Fulton County medical examiner’s office was investigating.
MARTA train and bus services generally end around 1 a.m., and few passengers are in the area around that time. Harris said about 20 passengers were on the train when the accident occurred but no one on the train saw or heard anything.
