MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A funeral was held Thursday in Montgomery for former state Public Safety Director Michael B. Sullivan.
Friends said Sullivan died Monday at a Montgomery hospital following an extended illness. He was 66.
Sullivan spent nearly 34 years with the state Department of Public Safety, including serving as assistant director in Gov. Fob James’ administration and director under Gov. Don Siegelman. As a trooper, he provided security for the University of Alabama football team under four coaches.
He retired in 2000 and became a lobbyist. He was active in programs serving the mentally disabled, including holding state and local offices in the ARC.
