Man arrested in killing at crab boil | News – Home

Christopher Anderson

Police were called to the 1500 block of West 21st Street, where they found the suspect, Christopher Anderson, being physically restrained by witnesses. The victim, 42-year-old Armando Jackson, was shot multiple times and died at a hospital.

According to a police report, Anderson got mad after he asked Jackson if he knew about a woman he apparently was interested in. Jackson said he did and then offered a vulgar reply about her, according to the report.

Police said Anderson picked Jackson up by his neck and slammed him down. The confrontation was broken up.

Police gunfire killed Hofstra University student, official says – CNN.com

New York (CNN) — A Hofstra University student who died during a confrontation between a home invasion suspect and authorities was killed by police gunfire, a Nassau County, New York, police spokeswoman said Saturday.

Police fired eight shots at the intruder, who authorities say was holding a gun to the head of Andrea Rebello, 21, during a home invasion robbery Friday at an off-campus house in Uniondale.

One of the shots hit Rebello in the head, killing her, police spokeswoman Maureen Roach said.

Also killed was the intruder, whom authorities identified as Dalton Smith, 30, of Hempstead. He was struck seven times.

Authorities say Smith was wearing a mask. He invaded the home Rebello shared with her twin sister and two others during the predawn hours on Friday.

Golf Legend Ken Venturi Passes Away at Age 82 | Bleacher Report

World Golf Hall of Famer and PGA Tour legend Ken Venturi passed away on Friday afternoon in a California hospital, near where he made his home outside of Palm Springs. He was 82.

His death came just two days after his 82nd birthday, and 11 days after he was inducted into said Hall of Fame. He was not able to attend the ceremony, instead battling a spinal infection, pneumonia and an intestinal infection that eventually took his life.

Venturi’s son, Matt, first broke the news that his father is no longer with us, as the San Francisco Chronicle reported. According to the report, Venturi had dealt with various medical issues for the final few years of his life, including quintuple bypass surgery in 2006 and more heart problems in 2011.

Hofstra student killed in home invasion – CNN.com

New York (CNN) — A 21-year-old Hofstra University junior was fatally shot early Friday in an exchange of gunfire between a suspected home invader and police who came to the house, officials said.

Andrea Rebello lived with her twin sister in an off-campus house in Uniondale, New York. A male suspect wearing a black ski mask forced his way into the residence, which the sisters shared with two other students, according to police.

At some point during the night, the twins’ female roommate was able to leave the home and call police, a Nassau County police spokesman told CNN on Friday.

When police arrived, there was an exchange of gunfire that left Andrea and the suspect dead. Police say the source of the gunfire that killed Rebello is still under investigation.
