One man died after a small plane crashed this morning in the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in suburban Boynton Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities did not identify the victim, but the plane owner’s wife feared that it was her husband, an experienced and decorated pilot.
The twin-engine Cessna 340 is registered to Paul S. Soulé Enterprises Inc. in Fruitland Park in Central Florida. Soulé’s wife, Jodie Soulé, said her 75-year-old husband was the only person on the plane. She had received no news about the victim.
