HARTFORD—Kerry Foster Jr. was a bright young man who worked hard in school, made friends easily, loved sports and made his parents proud.At Fox Middle School, where he was in eighth grade, he was known as KJ, for Kerry Jr., or the Senator, thanks to his gift for gab.His family, his school and his wider community of fellow athletes was devastated when he died May 28, 2006, the victim of gun violence that was consuming his north end neighborhood. Kerry and a friend, Cinque Sutherland, 14, were in the front yard of Kerry’s parents’ Clark Street home when he fell to bullets fired in a drive-by shooting. Sutherland was grievously wounded but survived.

One person is dead and another is recovering from gunshot wounds after an early morning shooting along I-85 South near Old National Highway.

College Park police say they got a call at 3:38 a.m. about a shooting and single-car accident involving a light blue Ford Crown Victoria.

Police say shots were fired at the Crown Victoria by someone in a passing vehicle. Two of the four males in the car were shot, police said.

They were both taken to area hospitals, where one was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the other was listed in serious condition before he died.

The dead man was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as Michael Walker, 27, of Atlanta.

Man killed in possible drive-by in Jacksonville’s Talleyrand area | jacksonville.com

A possible drive-by shooting killed a man shortly before 9 a.m. Friday at Buckman and 26th streets in Talleyrand.

Police responding to a shots-fired call found an unidentified man in his mid-20s dead in street. Officers are canvassing the area and evidence techs are processing the scene.

A white car, possibly with a spoiler, was seen leaving at high rate of speed.

“It looks like it might have been a drive-by,” said Sgt. Dan Janson of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

MOBILE, Alabama — A 40-year-old Mobile woman died this afternoon after someone shot her in the 5500 block of Racine Avenue, police said. The woman, Wendy Lee North, died after she was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center with a gunshot wound in the chest, police said. Authorities said multiple shots came from inside a car — possibly a Honda Civic with dark tint — occupied by three or four men. Witnesses saw the car speeding away from the area after the gunshots, police said.

Drive-by shooting kills 2, wounds 2 in South Fort Worth | Crime Blog

Two people were killed and two others were wounded in a drive-by shooting late Sunday in Fort Worth.

All four victims were driving south on the South Freeway’s frontage road about 9:20 p.m. when a second car pulled up beside their white Toyota Camry and opened fire as they exited onto Sycamore School Road.

The driver, 21-year-old Fabian Guerrero of Fort Worth, and Diane Guerra, 22, died at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
