Police say accused drunk driver caused fatal crash in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH – An accident late Saturday afternoon in Virginia Beach resulting in one person being killed, two others injured and the driver who caused the accident facing multiple charges.

According to police, 40 year-old Jason Seth Sergent of Norfolk was driving a 2003 Toyota pickup truck South in the 2200 block of Princess Anne Road when the vehicle drifted off the road to the right. Sergent apparently tried to recover, over-corrected and crossed into oncoming traffic in the Northbound lane.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department has charged Aaron B. Christy (30), of the 1200 block of Riveroaks Dr., Colonial Heights with DUI.

Andrew N. Buhrnam (29), of the 1200 block of Burlington, Dr. in Colonial Heights was killed in the single-vehicle accident that occurred around 1:45 am Saturday morning in the 18000 block of Branders Bridge Rd. Additional charges are pending.

TACOMA, Wash. —

A 9-year-old boy who was a passenger in what police believe was a DUI crash caused by his uncle died Sunday night after being taken off life support at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

Investigators said the victim’s uncle, 26-year-old Jayce Randall, was drunk and high on marijuana when his vehicle crashed on westbound State Route 16 early Saturday morning.

Twitter gives hint to final moments before fatal crash that killed five –

ONTARIO – A tweet may have provided details to the reasons for a one-car crash that killed five young men on Sunday.

“Drunk (expletive) going 120 drifting corners,” was posted at 1:19 a.m. Sunday on the Twitter account belonging to @ink2flashyy.

The post ended with the acronym Y.O.L.O., which means “You Only Live Once.”

The account belonged to Ervin McKinness, 21, of Ontario. He was one of the five men killed in the crash about 1:40 a.m. Monday at Creekside Drive and Haven Avenue.

Marquell Bogan, 23, and Dylan George, 20, both of Ontario; Jonathan Watson, 21, of San Bernardino, and JaJuan Bennett, 23, of Rancho Cucamonga also were killed when their a 2005 Nissan Sentra traveling southbound on Haven ran a red light, lost control and slammed into a wall.

Watson was driving the vehicle that came to a stop in the back yard of a home.

Zebulon, N.C. — A Knightdale man and Durham woman face accusations of drunken driving in connection with a three-car crash that killed a Sanford man on U.S. Highway 64 at the Wake-Franklin county line early Sunday.State troopers said that Jashauna Kanesha Wilson left part of her 2001 Honda Accord sticking out into U.S. 64 West when she ran out of gas around 3:30 a.m. and pulled onto the right shoulder, near N.C. Highway 39. A westbound 1997 Nissan Altima, driven by Marvin Gerome Lee, 23, struck the Accord at 65 mph, which spun around and was hit from behind by a westbound 2003 Nissan Altima, whose driver, Timothy Richardson Jr., had slowed from 80 mph to 65 mph before impact.Lee’s 1997 Altima split in half and caught on fire, troopers said. He was thrown from the car and died at the scene.Jarvis Richardson, 31, of Nashville, suffered severe, life-threatening injuries in the crash. Timothy Richardson’s cousin, he was thrown from the back of the 2003 Altima through the front windshield, troopers said. He was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh.
