LOXAHATCHEE —

A 26-year-old Loxahatchee woman was arrested Friday on charges related to a Feb. 13 crash that killed a 47-year-old school teacher, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Megan Mathis was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies allege Mathis was driving in the 4100 block of Calamondin Boulevard when she hit Paula Vinksy, also of Loxahatchee, from behind with her 2004 Jeep Liberty.

She turned herself in Friday as part of agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, her attorney Scott Suskauer said. She is scheduled to make her first appearance in court before a judge Saturday morning.

Mathis came forward days after the crash and authorities examined her vehicle.

Two charged in fatal Wilson hit-and-run :: WRAL.com

Wilson, N.C. — A Wilson man and his wife face numerous charges in the death of a man killed early Friday while riding his moped.

Hugh Bolton Johnston, 58, of 3042 N.C. Highway 42 East, Wilson, was about a mile from his home when a vehicle hit him and threw him about 175 feet.

Troy Demonte Gunter, 39, and Nicole Owens Gunter, 34, both of 627 Walnut St., were charged Sunday in the case.

Marietta police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a bicyclist Sunday evening.

The accident happened just before 7:45 p.m. Sunday on Powder Springs Street at Natchez Trace.

Marietta police spokesman Michael Gardner said the 55-year-old victim was struck by what witnesses described as a black SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade, with dark tinted windows and black wheels.

Disney intern killed vehicle found: The vehicle used in the hit-and-run that killed a Disney intern has been found, troopers say. – OrlandoSentinel.com

Authorities think they have found the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Disney intern last week. The owner of the 1997 Ford is considered a person of interest and is cooperating with investigators, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said.

The owner’s name has not been released.

Disney intern Mahmoud “Mike” Arabi, 22, of Australia was in a crosswalk on International Drive at Vineland Avenue when a car struck him at about 12:25 a.m. Monday. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died two days later.

Pedestrian dies after Des Moines hit-run accident – ABC5 News Des Moines, IA

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – A 58-year-old man has died after a hit & run accident on the north side of Des Moines.

A police news release says Clayton Payne died Sunday afternoon. He’d been struck around 12:45 a.m. Saturday while crossing 6th Avenue at College Avenue. An autopsy has been scheduled.
