Wilson, N.C. — A Wilson man and his wife face numerous charges in the death of a man killed early Friday while riding his moped.
Hugh Bolton Johnston, 58, of 3042 N.C. Highway 42 East, Wilson, was about a mile from his home when a vehicle hit him and threw him about 175 feet.
Troy Demonte Gunter, 39, and Nicole Owens Gunter, 34, both of 627 Walnut St., were charged Sunday in the case.
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – A Jacksonville woman has been charged in the death of her 10-month-old son.
Twenty-two–year-old Barbara A. Unser has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, child abuse and contributing to delinquency of juvenile.
Police say they are waiting on the results of tests by the medical examiner to determine how Alexander James Froland died.

Jazmin Green died in June 2011 after allegedly being left in a day care van following a group outing to Chuck E. Cheese. Authorities said the child wasn’t missed by the staff for two to three hours. She was found unconscious and strapped in a seat.
A court clerk told Channel 2 that Marlo’s Magnificent Early Learning Center owner Marlo Fallings and her daughter Quantabia Hopkins were indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges, and the indictment has been sent to a judge.
The district attorney’s office would only say nothing will be official in the case until Friday, Channel 2 said.
