A 38-year-old northwest Atlanta man died Sunday after his car collided nearly head-on with another vehicle driven by a woman who police said was drunk.The accident happened about 5 a.m. Sunday in northwest Atlanta.Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News that 38-year-old Jasper Collier was driving a 2003 Jaguar southbound on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard when a northbound car turned left into his path at Neal Street.Collier, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was seriously injured and later died at Grady Memorial Hospital.

A homeless man was struck and killed by a truck near the interchange between Interstate 20 and Interstate 75/85 overnight.Police indicated that the driver, Joshua Reese, 25, was likely intoxicated and speeding when his truck swerved off of the I-20 East ramp to I-75/85 North. Gwinnett police announced Thursday that the driver of a car in an accident on I-85 that killed his son has been charged with vehicular homicide.The driver, Juan C. Velasquez-Dominguez was headed south Wednesday on the interstate when the investigation revealed he left the roadway and struck the concrete base of the Boggs Road exit sign, said Cpl. Edwin Ritter.The collision sent 7-year old Juan Velazquez of Norcross to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he died. The boy was not wearing a seat belt, Ritter said.Velasquez-Dominguez, 33, did not have a drivers’ license, but was wearing a seat belt, Ritter said. Comic James ‘Jimmy Mack’ McNair Dead In Car Accident

 

On Saturday, JuneJAMES MCNAIR TRACY MORGAN 7, a limo bus carrying comic James McNair, actor Tracy Morgan and comics Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike.The limo bus, which was carrying two drivers, overturned at around 1 a.m. at Cranbury Township, N.J. The accident also involved five other vehicles, including two tractor trailers and an SUV. McNair, best known as “Jimmy Mack” to the comic community and churchgoers, was killed in the crash. Authorities told the AP that the 62-year-old comic of Peekskill, N.Y. was pronounced dead at the scene. McNair was named as one of Morgan’s comedy writers and close friends. He also hosted “The Original Uncle Jimmy Mack’s Amateur Hour.”Morgan is currently in critical condition in a New Jersey hospital, along with three others from the bus. According to the AP, two occupants weren’t injured.

Suspect in fatal wreck surrenders | TuscaloosaNews.com

A 22-year-old Tuscaloosa man sought by homicide investigators in connection with a two-vehicle wreck early New Year’s Day that killed two and injured four surrendered to police Wednesday afternoon.

KiAnthony Davis turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, roughly 11 hours after leaving the scene of the fatal accident at the intersection of 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard, according to Sgt. Dale Phillips, commander of the homicide unit.

After determining alcohol might have been a factor in the accident, investigators obtained two murder warrants for Davis, Phillips said. Investigators sought Davis to hear his side of the story,

The Daily Leader in Pontiac reports 33-year-old Jason C. Collins of West Columbia, S.C., entered the plea Monday in Livingston County court. Prosecutors say Collins was driving a pickup truck on Interstate 55 on Oct. 30 when his vehicle left the roadway. It struck a marked K-9 vehicle parked in a median turn around.

Twenty-nine-year-old officer Casey J. Kohlmeier was killed along with his dog, Draco.

A bottle of vodka was found at the scene of a fatal Atlanta garbage truck rollover earlier this month, and investigators blame the driver, police said.

Atlanta public works employee Melvin Callahan, 56, was charged Wednesday with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane in the Nov. 2 crash that killed colleague Derryl Simmons.

Simmons, 54, of Decatur, was thrown from the truck and killed when the city garbage truck he was riding in overturned while exiting I-75 southbound at Cleveland Avenue, police said.

A Mississippi man reported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail Thursday to begin a nine-month sentence for causing a fatal car crash.

Axton Heath Bond, 25, was accused of being drunk when he slammed his Chevrolet Silverado into the back of a Buick Century at the intersection of Watermelon Road and McFarland Boulevard at 2:15 a.m. on March 24, 2009.

The rear-end collision killed passenger Jermaine Jones, 22, of Aliceville and injured four others.

FREMONT, Calif. —

The Milpitas man at the center of a single-car crash in Fremont Tuesday afternoon that killed his wife and his 3-year-old son has been arrested on multiple felony charges.

Gilbert Gil, 34, was arrested in Hayward Friday on two counts of felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence as well as a charge of felony child endangerment, according to Fremont Police.

Gil was taken into custody without incident and transported to Santa Rita County Jail by ambulance Friday, police said.
