A jury found an Abbeville man guilty Thursday afternoon of murder in the shooting death of his stepbrother at a family fish fry.
Assistant Henry County District Attorney Sam Clenney said the jury found 48-year-old Carl Bernard Kennedy guilty of murder. Clenney said Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford will sentence Kennedy next month.
Authorities arrested Kennedy on June 2, 2011, on the murder charge. The jury convicted him of shooting 31-year-old Clarence “Boo” Williams to death on May 21, 2011.
The shooting happened at a family fish fry on a dirt road off Henry County Road 59, about five miles east of Abbeville.
Clenney said the jury found Kennedy guilty of using a shotgun to fatally shoot Williams in the face.
According to an earlier Dothan Eagle report, Kennedy drove away after the shooting in his Jaguar. Authorities captured him several days later in Miami.
