It has been a deadly day on metro Atlanta interstates after a pair of wrecks have left two people dead on Saturday.
Atlanta police said a city of Atlanta public works employee died in a wreck involving a garbage truck Saturday afternoon. A second worker is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital after the incident at Interstate 75 southbound near Cleveland Avenue and Hwy. 166. The names of the workers were not released. The wreck happened around 2:30 p.m. on the Cleveland Avenue exit off of I-75 south, Police spokesman John Chafee told Channel 2 Action News. APD’s accident investigation unit was at the scene most of the afternoon trying to figure out how the wreck happened. No other information was immediately available.
