Remembering Maria Watts, Dothan AL


Maria K. Watts Mrs. Maria K. \”Oma\” Watts, age 83, of Dothan, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at home after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Sigler and Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to service time. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Harvest Church, 2727 Fortner St., Dothan, AL 36305. Maria was born May 18, 1930 in Mannheim, Germany to the late Jakob and Maria Kadel. In 1960, Maria married the late Calvin E. LaBombard in Germany and came to the United States. She became District Manager of Avon products until 1990. She was a founding member of Harvest Church in Dothan and a member of the German Wives Club. Maria loved to shop and travel. She was an avid reader and a great cook. She was truly a woman of fine taste and elegance who loved her family very much. Maria is survived by her husband, Harold F. Watts, Jr. (CSM Ret,) of Dothan; her son, Harold F. Watts, III (Hal) of Daleville, AL, her daughter, Tammy Nelson (Mark) of Auburn, AL, Timothy J. Watts (Alyce) of Buford, GA; her nephew, Wolfgang Meier of Germany; her niece, Maria Siegling (Harold) of Germany and very dear friends of 53 years, Terry Sistrunk (Richard) of Panama City, FL and Bonnie Duncan (Wendell) of Trussville, AL. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.
