A former Troy University football player admitted to using a stolen handgun to shoot another man to death over the weekend.
Troy Police Lt. Bryan Weed said in a statement Sunday that police investigators arrested Dimitri Miles, 21, of La Fayette, Ga., and charged him with felony murder.
Court records show Miles also faces two additional felony charges to go along with his murder charge, which includes second-degree receiving stolen property and first-degree possession of marijuana.
Records show Miles not only confessed to the shooting, but was also the one who called 911.
Troy police charged Miles in the shooting death of Marquise Jermaine McClendon. The charge stemmed from Troy police officers responding to a reported shooting at an apartment in the 400 block of South Brundidge Street around 7:55 a.m.
