OZARK – Friends and family of an Ozark teenager shot to death over the weekend gathered Tuesday night in remembrance at a candlelight vigil.
Breanne Boatwright helped organize the vigil, held at Southside Baptist Church in Ozark, in honor of her friend, 17-year-old Christian Alexander Markoff.
Ozark police arrested two people, 18-year-old Quashawn Knight and a 15-year-old boy, on Monday and charged them both with murder. Police charged both teenagers with shooting Markoff to death around 10 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Young Avenue and Yancey Street, less than a mile from Carroll High where he was student.
Knight had his first appearance in court Tuesday morning, during which Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams and a police investigator outlined some details of what they believe happened during the murder to the court.
Adams asked the court for no bail or at least for a high bail amount.
