Mark Lemond, 59 of Newburgh passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home.
Mark was born January 22, 1955 in Jasper, Indiana. He was a graduate of Mater Dei High School and completed his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Evansville. After attaining his CPA he was a partner in the firm Kruse, Dicus and Associates for 10 years. He began his career with Shoe Carnival, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer and retired after 25 years as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. In 2001Mark was awarded the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Retail. In 2006 he was recognized as Business Person of the Year by the Evansville Chamber of Commerce. In 2008 Mark was awarded Business Leader of the Year by the University of Evansville. With UE being close to his heart, Mark served on the Board of Trustees. Mark also served on many local boards most notably St. Mary’s and Old National and was known for his generosity to many local and national causes. Mark was also known for his love of family, boating and golfing.
