A soldier killed in shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, earlier this month was remembered Saturday at private services in central Florida.
The Lakeland Ledger reported that an honor guard joined the family of Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ferguson to greet the soldier’s casket Friday at Tampa International Airport.
A private funeral was held Saturday morning in Lakeland, where Ferguson’s parents live. Ferguson will be buried at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Gov. Rick Scott ordered the U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff Saturday at the Polk County Courthouse and Mulberry City Hall and all flags at government buildings across Florida on Monday.
Ferguson was one of three people killed in the April 2 shooting spree.
