Authorities have identified the victim of the fatal shooting on Tuesday night in Dothan as 30-year-old Daniel Lanier Dawsey.

Dothan Police Sgt. Maurice “Mac” Eggleston said in a police statement that police investigators are looking for a suspect in the fatal shooting. Eggleston said police have charged 29-year-old Emanuel Tarrail Bryant with the murder of Dawsey.
The charge stemmed from police officers responding to a reported firearm assault in the 1000 block of Eugene Street around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. When police arrived they found a man on the ground, unresponsive because of a gunshot wound to the head.
Emergency personnel on scene immediately began treating the victim, who was then taken to Southeast Alabama Medical Center. About an hour later Dawsey succumbed to his the injury he suffered and died at the hospital.
Eugene Street, where the shooting happened, is located just off Third Avenue near Grandview Elementary School.
Eggleston said in the statement the police investigation has revealed the shooting was the result of a physical altercation between the two men.
Investigators identified the alleged shooter as Bryant and filed a warrant against him, charging him with murder. Police were still looking for Bryant on Wednesday morning.
