OPELIKA | Two pedestrians were killed in a traffic accident in Opelika.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris said police found two people, 42-year-old Angela Brooks and 51-year-old Ronald Edwards, seriously injured Friday night in an accident on Columbus Parkway.
Brooks was flown by helicopter to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, where she died.
Edwards was taken to East Alabama Medical Center, and then flown to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He died in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Authorities said Brooks and Edwards were attempting to cross the parkway when they apparently stepped in front of a westbound vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
