Fatal Motorcycle Crash On Beach Boulevard

A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a wreck that shut down westbound lanes of Beach Boulevard for several hours.

The crash happened at about 7:15 p.m. near the intersection with Peach Drive. Westbound lanes of Beach were closed for three hours and remained closed through 11 p.m. while police cleared the wreckage and investigated the circumstances.Police said the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Beach Boulevard when it collided with a pickup truck that was attempting to cross traffic and turn onto Peach Street from eastbound Beach Boulevard.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene. His motorcycle continued down the road another 100ft after he was knocked off.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist was speeding for miles and weaving in and out of traffic.The woman and child traveling in the pickup truck involved in crash were not injured.A short time later, a second wreck took place yards away from the first in eastbound lanes of Beach Boulevard. No one was seriously hurt in that crash.Police were in the streets directing traffic and rerouting traffic on the major roadway.Drivers traveling in the area were encouraged to find an alternate route.

  1. Damn Cager! I always ride with the assumption that the cager doesn’t see me and is going to run me over. Adding gear like retro-reflective vests and headlight modulators appear to help, but I have still had a fair share of “incidents”. Ride safe.
