2 dead in trench collapse outside Oklahoma City

(CNN) — Two workers died Tuesday in suburban Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after the trench they were digging collapsed, burying them, an official said.

Jacktown Fire Department spokesman Greg Ford said it could take hours for emergency workers to recover the bodies of the workers, who were digging a septic system when the collapse occurred.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department was called to shore up the trench walls.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. ET) outside the Kickapoo Casino, about 30 miles east of Oklahoma City, in the city of Harrah in Lincoln County, said a casino operator.
